Parksville city council announced the appointments to their inaugural council advisory committee.
Douglas Courtice, Jim Banks, Stephanie Weir and Michele Obara were appointed to a two year term, along with councillor Al Greir as chair.
“I’m quite excited about this and quite impressed by the process,” said mayor Chris Burger who spearheaded the initiative
Council voted May 28 to establish the committee which will consider and provide additional input on the larger issues and decisions they refer to it.
Each councillor received extensive information about the 13 applicants and ranked their top four choices.
Then council got together in-camera for a long discussion not only about each individual but how the group dynamics might work, Burger explained.
The committee will forward its findings and opinions to council in accordance with the terms of reference set by city council.
