Parksville Qualicum Beach crime report: Crooks break into home, pilfer hot water tank

Oceanside RCMP receive 242 complaints in one-week period

Oceanside RCMP received 242 complaints the week of Dec. 12-18.

Some of those incidents included:

Dec. 12

• A red Next Inferno full suspension bicycle was found in the 1300 block of Gilley Crescent, Parksville. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

Dec. 13

• A security camera was reported damaged in the 300 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.

• Slabs of white quartz were reported stolen by two men from a business in the 100 block of Industrial Way, Parksville.

• A residential break-and-enter was reported in the 800 block of Wembley Road, Parksville. A door was noted damaged, hot water tank missing and personal effects stolen.

Dec. 14

• A child’s play shelter was reported damaged in the 100 block of Moss Avenue, Parksville.

• A vehicle was reported damage in the 1000 block of Lee Road, Parksville. Damage was estimated at $1,000 which included a broken window, tampered door handle and ignition.

• A wallet and contents were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 500 block of Forsyth Avenue, Parksville.

Dec. 15

• A wallet and Milwaukee cordless tools were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2600 block of Alberni Highway, Coombs.

• Fuel was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2600 block of Alberni Highway, Coombs.

• A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 400 block of Island Highway East, Parksville. A door lock was noted damaged and fuel filler hose cut.

Dec. 16

• A business break-and-enter was reported in the 900 block of Fairdowne Road, Parksville. A damaged vehicle found in a ditch nearby was noted as being stolen from business.

• A vehicle was reported stolen in the 100 block of Hirst Avenue West, Parksville. The vehicle was recovered in Nanaimo on Dec. 18.

• An alert resident noticed a vehicle with two different license plates in the 600 block of Neden Way, Parksville. Attending RCMP member seized both plates as they did not belong to vehicle.

• A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 1000 block of Lee Road, Parksville. Damage was noted to ignition.

• Sunglasses and a black Footjoy jacket were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 200 block of Island Highway West, Parksville. Vehicle sustained damage to driver’s side door.

Dec. 17

• An unlocked vehicle was reported rummaged through in the first block of Woodland Drive, Parksville.

• An inverter, 30-inch Westinghouse flat screen TV and an Interstate deep cycle battery were reported stolen from a travel trailer in the 900 block of Virginia Road, Coombs.

• A vehicle was reported stolen in the 800 block of Island Highway West, Parksville. The vehicle was recovered in Nanaimo on Dec. 18.

Dec. 18

• A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 100 block of Moilliet Street North, Parksville. Damage was noted to the ignition.
