Parksville ranks 108th in ‘Maclean’s’ list of top Canadian communities to live and work in remotely

Langford at 18 was tops on Vancouver Island

Parksville is the 108th-best community in Canada to live and work in remotely, according to Maclean’s magazine.

Maclean’s recently released its 2021 list of ‘Canada’s Best Communities’. The Toronto-based national news magazine annual ranking has tied Halifax and Charlottetown as the best communities in the nation with Fredericton and St. Thomas placed second and third respectively. Qualicum Beach was not ranked.

The top-ranked communities on Vancouver Island included:

• 18. Langford

• 22. Central Saanich

• 23. Sidney

• 29. Saanich

• 38. Comox

• 49. Courtenay

• 57. Nanaimo

• 59. Victoria

• 80. Esquimalt

• 87. Port Alberni

• 105. Campbell River

• 108. Parksville

• 164. North Cowichan

• 189. Sooke

• 231. North Saanich

• 233. Oak Bay

To compile the list, Maclean’s considered factors like housing affordability, crime rates, local weather, health resources, amenities, population growth and internet quality.
