Celebrate the last days of summer with the Parksville Volunteer Fire Department at two more popup water parks.

Children, families and the young-at-heart are all invited to ‘cool down in style’ and get totally soaked with firefighters.

On Friday, Aug. 20, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., firefighters will set up at the Parksville Community Park near the Lions Ventureland Playground splash park.

At the popup, children and parents are encouraged to come prepared to take on firefighters with squirt guns and water toys for the ‘ultimate water fight challenge.’

There will be one lane of traffic closed near the crosswalk on Salish Sea Drive for the event.

On Friday, Aug. 27, from 6 p.m to 8 p.m., firefighters will set up in Shelly Creek Park, located at 497 Corfield St. in Parksville.

For this popup, Corfield Street between Hamilton Avenue and Trill Drive will be blocked off.

Popup, or instant water parks, are a chance for residents and visitors to check out the fire engines and equipment, learn about fire safety, and talk to members about what it means to be a volunteer firefighter.

The Parksville Volunteer Fire Department looks forward to the opportunity to engage with the community and share in some fun in the sun.
