Children near Parksville’s Shelly Creek Park will have a new playground to enjoy by the end April.

The park will see new playground equipment installed, as well as upgraded benches, an additional picnic table and more trees along the south side of the pathway. The existing swing will remain.

As per a public release issued on March 31, by Deb Tardiff, manager of communications, the city will start to remove the existing equipment the week of April 6, and will start installations the week of April 19.

Last year, the city engaged with Shelly Creek Park neighbours through an online survey to learn how the park is used, when it is most often used, and the length of visits. Walking, bringing children and enjoying nature were the top three reasons provided during the survey.
