Tammie Toriglia, pharmacist-owner of Pharmasave Health Centre in Parksville, is the recipient of the 2013 Takeda Magnum Opus Award for British Columbia.

Sponsored by Takeda Canada Inc., and presented at the B.C. Pharmacy Association (BCPhA) Annual Awards, this award recognizes pharmacists who have completed advanced training or education and have successfully expanded their practice as a result.

The recipient receives $1,000, which is donated in their name to the pharmacy school alma mater, advanced training program or disease-based charity of their choice. Toriglia has chosen to donate her $1,000 award to Forward House Community Society, which provides support to adults with mental health and addiction recovery concerns.

Toriglia says her goal is to provide her patients with services that might not be readily available in her community.
