Police are on the lookout after a disturbing incident Wednesday afternoon.
Oceanside RCMP Constable Monika Terragni reported that a six-year-old child had been riding his bicycle around a campground in Qualicum Beach when he was approached by a shirtless man who asked him for a favour.
"The man then lifted the child off his bicycle and led him into a nearby washroom," she said. "The man left the washroom and closed the door, holding it shut. The child remained in the washroom for approximately five minutes and was subsequently released, unharmed."
The suspect is described as being in his early 40s with a medium build, light brown hair with a streak of grey and green eyes. He was wearing blue denim shorts at the time, a black belt and blue sandals.
Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
