PQB crime report: Porch pirates pilfer package, thieves nab more catalytic converters

Crooks also steal cash from commerical washing machines

Oceanside RCMP received 234 complaints the week of Jan. 16-22. Some of the incidents included:

Jan. 17

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the area of Alberni Highway and Mclean Road, Qualicum Beach. Estimated damage $1,200.

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 800 block of Island Highway West, Parksville.

• Binoculars, keys and a thermos were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 500 block of Duggan Lane, Parksville.

• A vehicle was reported vandalized and a battery stolen in the 1100 block of Smithers Road, Parksville.

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle at the pullout on Memorial Avenue, Qualicum Beach.

Jan. 18

• An attempted theft of a catalytic converter was reported in the area of Virginia Road and Alberni highway, Parksville.

• B.C. licence plate RA173F was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1800 block of Alberni Highway, Coombs.

• An unknown amount of money was reported stolen from commercial washing machines in the 2700 block of Island Highway West, Qualicum Beach.

• B.C. licence plate D71208 was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Shearme Road, Coombs.

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2200 block of Errington Road, Errington.

• A 3-HP mercury outboard motor, power tools, fishing lures and frozen food were reported stolen from a property in the 500 block of Sandlewood Drive, Parksville.

• A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 900 block of Fairdown Road, Parksville. The driver’s side window was noted broken.

Jan. 19

• A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 3500 block of Island Highway West, Qualicum Beach. Damage noted to driver’s door.

• A prowler was reported in the 6000 block of Island Highway West, Qualicum Beach.

• Contents of a courier package was reported stolen in the 600 block of Wembley Road, Parksville.

• B.C. licence plate MN129M was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Weld Street, Parksville.

• Contents of a storage locker were reported stolen in the 1700 block of Spirit Way, Qualicum Beach. Fourteen bags of sport jerseys, shoes, work boots and clothes were noted missing.

Jan. 20

• A small fire was reported outside of a building in the 200 block of Hirst Avenue, Parksville. There was no damage to the building noted.

• A property was reported vandalized with a flower pot knocked over and a pest control trap set on fire in the 100 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.

Jan. 21

• B.C. licence plate LW341R was reported stolen from a vehicle in the are of Alberni Highway and Bellevue Road, Parksville.

• A red Apple iPhone was found in the area of the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre. Please contact Oceanside RCMP during regular busies hours to claim.

• An Ozonator, a device used to sanitize rooms valued at $350, was reported stolen from a property in the 100 block of Beachside Drive, Parksville,.

Jan. 22

• A vehicle was reported vandalized in the 100 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.

• A house was reported egged in the 500 block of Hazelwood Place, Qualicum Beach.
