PQB crime report: Vandals damage road signs, start fire that chars building

Oceanside RCMP also continue to deal with licence plate thieves

Oceanside RCMP received 237 complaints the week of May 15 to May 21.

Some of the incidents included:

May 15

• A black 2019 Rocky Mountain Instinct A70 mountain bike was reported stolen in the 2200 block of Errington Road, Errington.

• Road signs were reported vandalized in the area of Horne Lake Road and Christie Road, Qualicum Beach.

May 16

• B.C. licence plate MR9183 was reported missing from a vehicle.

• B.C. plate WJG40G was reported missing from a trailer in the 200 block of Jimmy Road, Qualicum Beach.

• A blue Amazon vest and a purse containing two phones were turned into the police. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

May 17

• A business break-and-enter was reported in the 200 block of Island Highway East, Parksville. A front window was noted broken and product missing.

• A black case containing religious music CDs was found in the 500 block of Wheeler Avenue, Parksville. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

May 18

• A white envelope containing $70 was found in the area of Lodgepole Drive and Hirst Avenue, Parksville, on May 18. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

• B.C. plates PT8413 were reported stolen form a vehicle in the 300 block of Boorman Road, Qualicum Beach.

May 19

• B.C. plate Z99340 was reported missing from a motorcycle in the 300 block of McKinnon Street, Parksville.

• A red-and-black golf bag containing a Ping driver, three Ping woods and Odyssey irons were reported stolen from an open unattended garage in the 2300 block of Andover Road, Nanoose Bay.

May 20

• Three individuals were reported to have started a fire that charred a structure in the 200 block of Martindale Road, Parksville.

• A black GMC Topkick mountain bicycle was found in the 1000 block of Coldwater Road, Parksville. Contact Oceanside RCMP during regular business hours to claim.

• A battery, electrical and hydraulic lines were reported stolen from a construction dump trailer in the 1200 block of Island Highway East, Parksville.

• A vehicle was reported to have sustained damage in an attempted theft of a catalytic converter in the 800 block of Island Highway West, Parksville.

May 21

• A business break-and-enter was reported in the 1200 block of Island Highway East, Parksville. Damage reported to a number of historic buildings and some artifacts missing.

• A vehicle was reported to have sustained damage in an attempted theft of a catalytic converter in the 300 block of Craig Street, Parksville.

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2700 block of Alberni Highway, Qualicum Beach.
