The Parksville Qualicum Beach News is pleased to announce the addition of reporter Adam Kveton to the editorial team, effective March 16.

Kveton, who previously worked as a reporter in Northern Alberta and in Ottawa, will take over the coverage of the local arts and entertainment scene on the mid-Island, as well as the education beat.

“I’m extremely excited to be working in such a picturesque area, and to get to know the communities and residents, including the wildlife,” said Kveton, who hails originally from B.C.

His arrival comes as part of a shuffling of responsibilities in the the newsroom. Former arts reporter Lauren Collins moves into the role of news reporter, with responsibilities including coverage of the Town of Qualicum Beach and the Regional District of Nanaimo.

J.R. Rardon has recently taken over the editor position with former editor John Harding’s move to Port Hardy to become publisher/editor of the North Island Gazette. Rardon will cover the City of Parksville, the police/crime beat and sports for the immediate future.

Additional changes may be on the way as The NEWS seeks to fill one remaining newsroom vacancy.

Until then, Adam Kveton can be contacted at 250-905-0028 or adam.kveton@pqbnews.com; Lauren Collins can be reached at 250-905-0027 or lauren.collins@pqbnews.com; and J.R. Rardon is at 250-905-0019 or at editor@pqbnews.com.
