The Parksville Lawn Bowling Club  rolled out the green carpet recently for the Open Mixed Pairs Tournament,  but in the end, it was the home club who walked down it most often. Teams who had traveled from up and down the Island were mostly shut out when all the hardware was awarded. The tournament, sponsored by Quality Foods Parksville, brought 64 players together, but by Sunday afternoon, it was clear that Parksville was the powerhouse club.

In the A Division, the top three teams came from Parksville with the team of Duncan Burke and Sandi Mitchell first, Pat and Gwen Kelly second and third to Gil Simpson and Janys Milne Thomas.

In B Division action, it was another Parksville top-two finish with first going to Kate Wilson and Keith Baker and second to Alan Brunskill and Roberta Stets.

In the C Division, Nanaimo’s Vern Hagstrom and Kathleen Sherry took first with Debbie and Jack Lawrence from Parksville coming in second.

The D Division saw Parksville prevail again with Martin and Chris Fereday taking first and Stu and Jan MacNaughton taking second.

The public is reminded that they can  always come out and watch the draws for free and club members are always on hand to welcome them.  Parksville Lawn Bowling club is located at 149 E. Stanford.
