The Town of Qualicum Beach’s Community Climate Change Adaptation Plan (CCCAP) has undergone an extensive review and was adopted by council at its recent Jan. 18 meeting.

Next steps will be for the town to implement actions of the plan, with priority given to those that can be mainstreamed into current planning schedules and existing operations. Planning for the mid-to long-term actions will also begin.

The CCCAP builds upon the existing town policies and actions to develop local capacity for climate change resilience and to advance efforts on adaptation.

The Town’s Select Committee on Environment and Sustainability reviewed the plan over several months, resulting in recommendations to council on which areas should be prioritized, and how best to advance the town’s goals and objectives in alignment with its Sustainability Plan.
