A proposal to add 25 residential units to The Gardens at Qualicum Beach has stalled, mostly due to the reaction from tenants.
Mayor Teunis Westbroek attended an information meeting Monday evening where he said he didn’t hear a single expression of support from the overflow crowd and took that message to Wednesday’s council meeting.
“Council agreed the bylaw should be abandoned,” he told The News after the council meeting, explaining they felt the proponents needed a better consultation process.
Between the two meetings he said, “unless there are significant changes to the plan, my recommendation to council would be to abandon the bylaw all together.”
