Karen Trimble struck gold.

The Qualicum Beach resident is experiencing all the feels – notably gratitude – after finding out she won $50,000 from a Maximum Gold Scratch and Win ticket.

Trimble purchased her ticket from Coombs Corner Petro-Canada on Alberni Highway and was enjoying a cup of coffee after work when she scratched her ticket.

“At first, I didn’t believe it and had to check and recheck the ticket,” she said. “I even read the instructions on the back of the ticket to confirm that I had won.”

Trimble immediately signed her ticket and returned to Petro-Canada to have it checked.

“The first thing that crossed my mind was ‘is this real and really happening?’ It’s unbelievable.”

Trimble has a few plans for her prize which include treating her family and herself to a few gifts, donating some to a local charity and saving for retirement.

On how it feels to win, Trimble said: “For me, it’s absolute gratitude.”
