People can now donate to Fran Duncan’s ongoing fundraising for the Walk Now for Autism BC on Sept. 25 in Vancouver at the Qualicum Beach bottle depot.
Duncan, a Qualicum Beach resident, and her family have been taking part in the walk as team Adian’s Avengers for several years on behalf of her grandson Aidan Blower who has autism.
The campaign is almost as much about awareness as fundraising, since people with autism don’t look any different and it is widely misunderstood.
Autism is a life long neurobiological disorder, that affects around one in every 150 people, more than childhood cancer, diabetes and AIDS combined.
People dropping off bottle at the bottle depot can tell the staff they want to donate them to the “autism walk.”
Duncan will be canvassing in front of local stores again, which people might remember from previous years, and details on other fundraisers will follow.
She will also pick bottles up for people in Oceanside. Call 250-752-3744.
