Qualicum fuel thefts investigated

Three hits cost construction company some serious cash

Police are on the hunt for whoever was responsible for three fuel thefts from a construction site in Qualicum Beach.

Corporal Jesse Foreman reported that more than 100 litres of diesel fuel was stolen from a construction site located at the corner of Laburnum and Claymore Road in Qualicum Beach on July 16.

“The suspect managed to compromise the locked fuel cap on a large excavator that was on site,” Foreman said. “This is the third reported theft from this construction site. Freshly planted trees, tools and electronics were among the items previously stolen and this has resulted in thousands of dollars in loss to the company.”
