A man who had been evading RCMP from three communities “for some time” has finally been caught by Oceanside RCMP.

Twenty-eight-year-old Gregory George King of no fixed address had been evading police from Powell River, Nanaimo and Oceanside, Cpl. Jesse Foreman said Sunday, Aug. 6, in an Oceanside RCMP news release.

With five arrest warrants for offences ranging from Fraud and Theft to Obstructing Police, King was identified at a vehicle stop in Errington on Aug. 2.

However, King fled from police and escaped.

Two days later, RCMP had another chance. Oceanside RCMP spotted King on a bicycle in French Creek.

“He again tried to outrun police,” said Foreman.

This time, after struggling with police, King was arrested, Foreman said.

New proposed charges against King include Escaping Lawful Custody and Resisting Arrest.

He’s being held in custody until Aug. 8 when he’s scheduled to go before a judge at Nanaimo Provincial Court, the news release stated.
