RCMP: No injuries reported as vehicle goes off the road along Nanoose Bay flats

Police say speed, alcohol not factors in the incident

Police have confirmed no injuries were reported after a vehicle went off the road on Highway 19 near Hillview Road, an area known as the Nanoose Bay flats, on Tuesday, Jan. 25.

Cpl. Stewart Egers of the Oceanside RCMP said the northbound vehicle was occupied by only its driver when the incident took place at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Egers said the vehicle fortunately did not roll over but still ended up below the train tracks. He said neither speed or alcohol were factors in the incident.

Egers said it took a tow truck mere minutes to recover the vehicle. Northbound traffic was reduced to a single lane for approximately 30 minutes.
