A man sought by police for the robbery of a Parksville bank was caught and placed in custody, Oceanside RCMP announced Thursday morning, May 17.

One day earlier, the RCMP issued a notice that it was seeking 47-year-old Mark Brooks Lee for allegedly robbing the Parksville branch of TD Bank on the evening of May 10. Police were able to identify Lee through security footage, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jesse Foreman said.

Foreman said that while no injuries were reported from the robbery, Lee “indicated that he had a gun, but nobody saw anything.”

A small amount of cash was handed over to Lee during the robbery, Foreman said.

A stolen car believed to have been used by the suspect during or after the robbery, a brown 2015 Nissan Altima, was also recovered, police stated in a news release Thursday.
