The Regional District of Nanaimo board approved grants for 11 organizations in District 69.
The board endorsed the grants at its meeting on Dec. 7, totalling $23,486, to be used for a variety of community and recreation-focused projects.
The grants were awarded through three programs: Oceanside Recreation Services Youth Grants, Oceanside Recreation Services Community Grants and Oceanside Community Safety Grants.
Recreation grants support recreation programs, special events or projects that benefit specific communities in the Parksville Qualicum Beach area. Safety grants support programs and services that help increase safety in the community.
The Oceanside Recreation Services Youth (11-18 years) Grants, totalling $5,525, were awarded to the Arrowsmith Community Recreation Association ($525), Bowser Elementary School ($2,500) and Ravensong Aquatic Club ($2,500).

The Oceanside Recreation Services Community (all ages) Grants, valued at $15,361.97, were awarded to the Arrowsmith Community Recreation Association ($2,286.97), Bow Horn Bay Community Club ($2,400), Corcan-Meadowood Residents Association ($2,500), Lions Club of Parksville ($675), Oceanside Community Arts Council ($2,500), Ravensong Waterdancers Synchro Club ($2,500) and VanIsle Walking Soccer Parksville Golden Oldies Sports Association ($2,500).
The Oceanside Community Safety Grants, totalling $2,599.25, were awarded to Glen Eagle Strata ($1,599.25) and Mid-Island Air Search and Rescue Association ($1,000).
