Regional District of Nanaimo cancels extended transit service on New Year’s Eve

Other holiday service hours are not impacted

The latest British Columbia Public Health Orders have resulted in the cancellation of New Year’s Eve events and closure of some establishments.

The Regional District of Nanaimo is cancelling the extended service portion of its New Year’s Eve transit service.

Transit service on Dec. 31 will now end at 12:30 a.m. Free transit will continue to be provided from 8 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. that evening. Other holiday service hours are not impacted and remain as follows:

• Dec. 20-24: Reduced Weekday Service (No ‘S’ Trips; same as summer schedule)

• Dec. 25: Sunday level service

• Dec. 26: Saturday level service

• Dec. 31: Reduced Weekday Service (No ‘S’ Trips; same as summer schedule) Free Evening Service from 8 p.m. - 12:30 a.m.

• Jan. 1-2: Sunday level service

• Jan. 3: Return to regular service
