British Columbia and Parksville Qualicum Beach need respectful and democratic leadership.
We have not had that from our provincial government in the past 12 years, but I for one would like to work towards having both in the next four years.
I congratulate NDP candidate Barry Avis in demonstrating respect in our community in the past 11 years that I have seen him involved publicly. As a candidate in the last election, I saw him work tirelessly to connect with all of our residents, be accessible to listen to every single person and speak with care and compassion. This is admirable.
Qualicum Beach would be fortunate to have Avis work for them again if he so chooses.
We may be stuck with a government that bullies others and breaks down the essence of our democracy by not engaging in debate and discussions of issues for now. But I call on all people who voted and who did not vote to demand respect and democracy in the next four years.
