Robert Filmer announces plans to run for another term as Qualicum Beach councillor

Municipal election set for Oct. 15

Robert Filmer has announced his candidacy for re-election for Qualicum Beach council.

Filmer, born in Qualicum Beach, is one of five generations of his family to have been raised in Qualicum Beach. Vjhhia press release, he said he is proud to say his roots are in Qualicum Beach.

Elected as councillor at age 20, Filmer is the youngest person to hold elected office in the town.

Community service has been a constant in Filmer’s life, going back to his seven years in the local air cadet program. Not only did he find his passion for community service there, but also found his passion for aviation and now works for a large Canadian air carrier.

Although previously announcing plans to not seek a second term, Filmer believes that Qualicum Beach will need steadfast leadership and experience in the coming four years and said he wants to offer that.

“My commitment to Qualicum Beach has never changed,” said Filmer in the release. “I promise to hold the best interest of our residents at top of mind, and I promise to always listen, respond and work hard. I have held these promises for the past four years and will continue to hold them true.”

The next municipal election will be held Oct. 15, 2022.
