Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach Sunrise Spring Ball coming soon

Dinner dance on March 21 at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre could raise up to $10,000 for local charitable causes

The Rotary Club of Qualicum Beach Sunrise will host its fourth annual Spring Ball on March 21 at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre.

“It’s quite well received,” said chair of the committee Ron Stothers. The ball is a major fundraiser for the organization with all proceeds going to support local charitable causes. In the past, Stothers said some spring balls have raised over $10,000. “It works really well,” he said.

The night starts at 5:30 p.m. for cocktails, followed by a three-course filet mignon dinner at 6 p.m. prepared by Qualicum Beach chef Stewart McTavish. “The food is great,” said Stothers, who added that there is some good quality wine on the table too.

Then the band Big Fun will strike up a night of dancing at 9 p.m.

There will also be a large selection of door prizes, raffles and silent and live auctions at the ball. Stothers said some of the prizes include a seven-night hotel stay with breakfasts in Ibiza, Spain, a gourmet dinner with wine cooked by McTavish in your home, flights, spa certificates and grocery cards.

After the party, there will be limo service home.

Tickets to the event are $80 each or $750 for a table of 10, and must be purchased in advance. You can buy tickets in Qualicum Beach at The Shoe Inn, Captivating Details, Fresh ’n’ Fabulous Flowers and The Collective — Artists’ Studio & Gallery Place; in Parksville at Close to You, or at 250-752-0270.

There are only 220 tickets available and Stothers said that over half are already sold.
