Scuba diver perishes in Nanoose Bay incident

Efforts to revive Nanaimo scuba diver prove to no avail

A scuba diver perished after running into trouble while on a dive at Nanoose Bay.

The B.C. Coroner’s Service this week confirmed the identity of the man as Paul Scott Revane, 53, from Nanaimo.

Revane and a dive companion had been diving at a popular dive site late in the afternoon of Nov. 2 when Revane ran into trouble.

His partner noticed his distress and managed to drag him to shore and, after trying to revive him, got hold of a doctor who lived nearby, who also did his best.

Paramedics from the BC Ambulance Service arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and they also attempted to revive Revane, with no success.

The BC Coroner’s Service is continuing to investigate the incident, with the help of the Canadian Coast Guard.
