Six injured in Rupert Road crash

None of the injuries in Qualicum Beach incident believed life-threatening

Six people were rushed to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital after a two-vehicle crash in Qualicum Beach Sunday.

Oceanside RCMP Sergeant Darrell Robertson said the collision happened at about 2:10 p.m. at the intersection of Rupert Road East and Qualicum Road when a mid-sized car collided with a small SUV in the intersection.

Robertson said there were three people in both vehicles, all of whom were taken to hospital in Nanaimo for examination and treatment of their injuries.

Both vehicles were too damaged from the impact to be driven, so they were towed from the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, but Robertson said neither drugs nor alcohol is believed to be a factor.
