Although organizers behind the local SOS’ Caring for Kids at Christmas campaign were concerned they were not going to reach their goal this year, the society had a happy New Year after all.
“We were pleasantly surprised,” said executive director of the SOS, Renate Sutherland, reporting that the society actually exceeded their goal of $110,000 by $860.
“We’re just very grateful to the coverage we got in The NEWS in particular and on the radio because we had quite a few people who had come in right up to New Years to say they had seen it in the paper or heard it on the radio.”
