The Victoria Police Department says they are investigating an incident at Mayfair Mall that left a male store manager with serious injuries.

At about 6 p.m. on Jan. 30, VicPD say they responded to an "abandoned" 911 call from the 3100-block of Douglas Street where the caller reported a physical altercation between a store manager and an unknown man, then disconnected the call.

"Officers arrived on scene and quickly located and arrested the male suspect in the parking lot," noted a news release from VicPD.

An altercation occurred after the manager informed the man that the store was closing, and the man refused to leave, the manager reported to police.

"A struggle ensued, the suspect exited the property, and the manager returned to work," noted the release. "The manager was later transported to hospital by BC Emergency Health Services, where it was determined he had sustained serious injuries."

The incident is still under investigation.
