The Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) is temporarily closing the Springwood Park trailhead at Nicnbec Road (near Coldwater Road) section of the Coombs to Parksville Rail Trail, effective 7 a.m., Monday, April 3. Completion of the two pedestrian railway crossings along that section will take place the week of April 3.

Over the course of April 2017, people can expect partial closures of sections of the Coombs to Parksville Rail Trail or delays as the rail trail contractor undertakes final works on the trail.

Trail users are asked to please obey all signs posted along the trail, in addition to any directions provided at site by the contractor. Safety is in the interest of all.

While the Coombs to Parksville Rail Trail opened in December 2016, work is still ongoing until the official opening planned for the end of May.

Final components of the trail include kiosk signage as well as pedestrian-controlled beacons at the Station and Church roads trailheads.
