The 28th annual Home Expo attracted approximately 6,000 people to Oceanside Place on the weekend, where 75 vendors showcased their products and services.

"The show's focus is on renovating, building and designing," said event manager Darcy Hope of Evergreen Exhibition. "It's a no-pressure environment for people to get professional advice."

Hope said the show was successful, as it always is in Parksville — Hope's family has been planning the shows for nearly three decades and he attended his first one at age three.

"The Home Expo is really great for both the exhibitors who get to talk with clients face-to-face and also for the attendees who basically get to do the same thing," said Hope, adding that most of the vendors are local to Vancouver Island.  Hope said his favorite part of the show is watching people interact with one another and find what they are looking for.

"We're already planning next years show," he said. "It will probably be on Mother's Day weekend again."
