Town of Qualicum Beach confirms Teunis Westbroek as new mayor

The Town of Qualicum Beach has declared official the winners of the Oct. 15 municipal elections.

Teunis Westbroek is confirmed by the chief election officer Heather Svensen as the elected mayor of Qualicum Beach receiving total votes of 2,819, with incumbent Brian Wiese coming in second with 1,565 votes.

Elected to council are incumbents Anne Skipsey with 3,022 votes and Scott Harrison with 1,715 votes. Newcomes to council are Petronella Vander Valk, who garnered 2,181 votes and Jean Young who had 1,724 votes.

The inaugural council meeting will be held in person on Monday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. the Civic Centre, located on 747 Jones Street, Qualicum Beach.

There was a total of 4,453 voters out of 8,477 eligible voters that came out to cast their ballots representing 52.53 per cent voter turnout.
