Tyler Brown will continue as the chair of the Regional District of Nanaimo board.

The board acclaimed Brown as chair at its meeting on Nov. 9. Provincial legislation requires regional districts annually elect a chair and a vice-chair at the first meeting of the board after Nov. 1.

This will be Brown’s second term as chair.

Returning as vice-chair is Vanessa Craig, also by acclamation.

“It is an honour to be acclaimed as the RDN chair by my fellow board members,” said Brown. “I also appreciate the wonderful advice and guidance vice-chair Craig has given over the past year and will continue to provide this term. We have a number of ambitious goals for the year ahead and, together, we will work with the best interests and needs of residents in mind to achieve them.”

The board is comprised of 19 elected officials representing four municipalities and seven electoral areas.

“I am pleased to have the opportunity to serve a third term as vice-vhair and appreciate the confidence shown in me by the Board,” said Craig. “I look forward to continuing to serve RDN residents and to supporting chair Brown in my capacity as vice-vhair.”
