Up to three food trucks may have the chance to set up shop at the Parksville Community Park starting this fall.

At the regular Parksville council meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 23, city staff were directed to create a request for proposal (RFP) for off-season mobile food service vending opportunities in the community park.

Coun. Mark Chandler, who introduced the topic, said the idea of having coffee or pastries in the park during quieter months would be “a nice little addition” to allow for extra services.

“We get quite a bit of traffic in the winter time down there… the people that are coming down there, they’re coming for morning coffee and they’re wandering through and doing a walk, bringing their pets through in the times when they can,” he said.

The RFP would allow interested parties to submit proposals to use up to three units for operating within the park between Oct. 1, 2022, and April 30, 2023, with a one year renewal included.
