Vandals ripped up the turf doing doughnuts at Parksville Community Park on the weekend.

There's nothing delicious about these drive-through doughnuts.

Vandals in vehicles tore up some grass in Parksville Community Park sometime this weekend, near the sand volleyball zone in an area known as the kite field.

"It's a mess," said longtime Parksville resident. Cy O'Leary, who went for a walk and saw the damage Sunday afternoon. "We should not accept this kind of nonsense. Community Park is our pride and joy."

City of Parksville Parks Superintendent Peter Crawshaw was in the park Monday morning looking at the damage.

"A lot of it will just come back but where the turf's up, that's not going to come back and we will have to repair it," said Crawshaw.

The parks superintendent was asked if he had any message for the vandals who perpetrated this crime.

"If this is someone's idea of fun, they need serious help."
