Vehicle upkeep vital say police

RCMP will be checking vehicles to make sure they are road worthy

With the weather improving, many Oceanside residents found themselves out in the yard or working around the house this past long weekend.

However, members of the Oceanside RCMP and Central Vancouver Island Traffic Services want to remind residents that their vehicles need seasonal maintenance as well.

They’ll be doing that over the coming weeks as they perform checks to target vehicle defects.

Specifically, they will be looking at lighting — including daytime running lights — windshields, licence plate attachment, mufflers, window tint, tires and anything else that appears deficient or is determined to be a road safety issue.

Commercial Vehicle Inspectors will also be on hand to assist with small and large commercial vehicles.

“Please take the time to keep your vehicle road worthy and safe for both you and your family as well as the rest of the traveling public,” said Corporal Mike Elston of Vancouver Island Traffic Services.
