Over the next month, water main construction will take place on the west property line of 180 Jensen Ave. East, a property owned by Berwick Retirement Communities.

The work was scheduled to begin Wednesday, July 25. It will involve the relocation of a large water main to facilitate service connections for the proposed development at 180 Jensen Ave. East, according to a news release from the city of Parksville.

The city, reads the release, was presented with a traffic management plan which includes closure of the pedestrian trail between the Berwick site and the main parking lot for the Parksville Community and Conference Centre. At times during construction, it will be necessary to temporarily divert pedestrian traffic along Stanford Avenue and Craig Street.

During the project, portions of the Parksville Community and Conference Centre parking lot, as well as the main entrance at McCarter Street, will be closed to the public. During closures, trails will be fenced and signed and traffic controllers will be on site at the McCarter and Jensen intersection when necessary.

A map of the construction plans can be viewed online at www.pqbnews.com.
