Jennifer Perusini, 35, to appear in provincial court in Nanaimo on Friday

Police in Nanaimo have arrested and charged a woman they believe is responsible for a recent boom in break-and-enters.

According to Nanaimo RCMP, Jennifer Perusini, 35, was arrested Wednesday at 5 p.m. and taken into custody. She was alleged to have been found in possession of a number of stolen items, according to a press release.

Perusini has been charged with one count of break-and-enter and 10 counts of possessing stolen cheques. In addition, police are continuing their investigation and conducted a search of a residence today, Dec. 13, which yielded other items police believe may be involved to other break-and-enter incidents in Nanaimo.

Perusini has been remanded into custody until Friday, Dec. 14, when she will appear at provincial court in Nanaimo.

The investigation continues and more charges are expected in the coming days, say police.
