Jack Woods is now safely behind bars.

A convicted murderer, sought on a Canada-wide warrant for a parole violation, is back in custody.

RCMP Corporal Richard van de Pol said 53-year-old Jack Dennis Woods was located in a hotel in the 900 block of Hastings Street in Vancouver Thursday and was immediately arrested.

Woods had been convicted in 1996 for second degree murder and served 13 years before being paroled in 2009. Woods disappeared from a community residential facility in Peterborough, Ontario on Sept. 9 and, on Nov. 10, a vehicle was located in Nanaimo that was linked to Woods. A Canada-wide warrant was issued Jan. 5.

Woods was later found to have been hiding out in the Qualicum Beach area for close to a month, before fleeing once again.

“People can rest a little easier knowing he is not going to be in the Qualicum Beach area again any time soon,” van de Pol said.
