Work on Despard Avenue in Parksville to reduce water pressure for area residets

Disruption expected from 11:30 p.m. on March 21 until 5:30 p.m. on March 24

Approximately 300 households in Parksville can expect a noticeable drop in water pressure on Monday, March 21.

According to a release from the city, the contractor working at the development site on the corner of Despard Avenue and Moilliet Street will undertake a water main tie-in that day.

“Residents in the vicinity of Despard Avenue and the Alberni Highway, Craig Street north of Despard Avenue, Hamilton Avenue and Trill Drive should expect a noticeable drop in water pressure between 11:30 pm on Monday, March 21, 2022, until 5:30 pm on Thursday, March 24, 2022,” read the release.

There will be single alternating traffic near the intersecting streets on Despard Avenue and Moilliet Street with traffic control personnel onsite to direct traffic.

“The utility work will affect about 300 households in the areas listed; Despard Avenue West (between Craig Street and the Alberni Highway); Alberni Highway (on the east side only, between Despard Avenue and Moss Avenue); Craig Street (between Meridian Way and Hamilton Avenue); Butler Avenue (between Craig Street and Corfield Street); Hamilton Avenue (all properties); Trill Drive (all properties); and Corfield Street (Hamilton Avenue to and including 500 Corfield St.).”
