Pursuant to Sections 464, 465 and 466 of the Local Government Act the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) advises of a public hearing regarding a zoning amendment for “Regional District of Nanaimo Electoral Area ‘F’ Zoning and Subdivision Amendment Bylaw No. 1285.40, 2024”.

PURPOSE OF THE BYLAW

The purpose of the bylaw is to rezone the property shown in the Location Map above from Commercial 1 (C-1) Zone to a new Mixed Use Meadowood Village Centre 2 (MU-2) Zone to add artisan studio, mini storage and recreational vehicle park (maximum of 14 RV spaces); and to remove care services and a gasoline service station as permitted uses. The proposed MU-2 Zone also includes minimum standards for lighting, screening and signage.

HAVE YOUR SAY

All persons who consider their interest in their property to be affected by the proposed bylaw shall be afforded an opportunity to be heard in person, or by written submission, at the public hearing.Written submissions can also be provided in advance of the public hearing and must be received at the RDN Administration Office by 4:30 p.m., October 28, 2024, to ensure their inclusion in the public record. Please do not include personal or confidential

information about yourself or others in your written submission. Written submissions may be made publicly available through the RDN website and on public meeting agendas. Written submissions may be submitted by email to planning@rdn.bc.ca or by mail or in person to 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, B.C., V9T 6N2.

WHERE CAN I INSPECT THE DOCUMENTS?

A copy of the proposed bylaw and relevant documents may be inspected at www.getinvolved.rdn.ca/pl2022-026, at the hearing or at the RDN Administration Office up until October 29, 2024. The office is located at 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, B.C., and is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding public holidays.

The public hearing for this bylaw will be chaired by Director Salter, or her alternate, as a delegate of the Board.
