In Loving Memory ~

It is with great sadness that the family of Agnes (Nessie) Bayley announces her passing on June 12, 2024, at her home in The Gardens, Qualicum Beach, British Columbia at the age of 102.

Agnes May Lochhead Bayley (nee Pollin) was born in Montreal, Québec on November 21, 1921 to Robert and Elizabeth Pollin.

She was predeceased by daughter-in-law Wendy Bayley, daughter Barbara Ingram and husband Rupert Bayley and leaves behind daughter Susan (Bruce), sons David (Carolyn), Douglas (Cindy), seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

She became an avid skier and golfer while growing up in Montreal and made lifelong friends while working at The Aluminum Company. She married Rupert Bayley (an RAF and later RCAF pilot) in 1946 in Walsall, England. Together and with their growing family they lived in many places such as England, Montreal, Gimli Manitoba, Zweibrucken Germany, Belleville Ontario, Portage La Prairie Manitoba and finally North Vancouver, BC.

Nessie continued to enjoy skiing, golfing, tennis and traveling. Nessie and Rupert built a family chalet at Whistler ski resort where many happy weekends were spent downhill and cross-country skiing and enjoying great company and outdoor activities. Cross-country skiing always involved wine glasses, tablecloth, wine and sausages and cheeses. They eventually retired to Qualicum Beach where golf, friends and traveling kept them busy and happy.

Nessie was a fabulous storyteller and entertainer of family and many cherished friends. She had an independent spirit, and great sense of humour and loved making and receiving funny homemade birthday cards.

She was a wife, mother, grandmother (Tutu) and great grandmother. She was funny, positive, active and loving and will be sorely missed.

The family is grateful to the thoughtful and caring staff at The Gardens and to her many Gardens friends who filled her years there with entertainment and love.
