June 16, 1940 - June 14, 2018
Alan passed away peacefully, leaving behind his wife Brenda, and many, many friends in Parksville.  He was well known in Parksville as "Speedy".  Alan was a walker who walked around town every single day.  Alan partook of Special O bowling, he enjoyed a trip to Victoria every year to participate in Track Shoes.

Alan was a good husband to his wife Brenda of 25 or more years.

He could be seen in the downtown core very early in the mornings, 'cleaning the streets of garbage and butts'.  Sometimes doing it without pay.  He cleaned a business parking lot in exchange for new shoes.

He enjoyed stopping in at businesses and corner stores just to say "hi" to his friends. Alan was a good citizen who just went about his own business. Able to live independently (supported by a Day Program) up until his last few months.

Alan loved birthdays and Christmas, generously bringing flowers or a card to a friend.

Alan's familiar face will be missed in Parksville.

The saying "walk a mile in my shoes" definitely fits our friend Alan.
