Special thanks to the excellent, professional and caring staff at Stanford Place Care Campus where Bert had lived for the last 16 months of his life. He loved and appreciated you all for your tender loving care. Thank you for being there for him in his time of need, we shall never forget.

Bert served his country as a member of the Canadian Forestry Corps in Scotland during World War II. We would like to thank the Department of Veterans Affairs for their support of Bert in his last years by making sure his physical needs were met. He truly appreciated the help.

Bert was an example to all of us on how to value family, how to forgive others and move on and how to live by the golden rule. His lessons by example will not be forgotten. We will miss that twinkle in his eyes.

The following passage was one selected by him that he wanted

included as his message to all who cared about him:

“When I come to the end of the road and the sun has set for me,

I want no tears or gloom-filled room.... Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a little - but not too long and not with your head bowed low.

Remember the love we always shared, miss me, but let me go.”

No service at Bert’s request.
