Alec Thompson, 86, passed away at home in Campbell River on December 12, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He leaves his wife of 65 years, Vanda Thompson, daughter Elaine, sons Martin and Antony, 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Alec was born in Rotherham, England and immigrated to Canada in 1965 he lived in Montreal, southern Ontario, Burnaby and Parksville prior to moving to Campbell River in 2015. He served in the Royal Air Force and later worked as a machinist and estimator. After immigrating to Canada, he worked at Dominion Bridge and Ontario Hydro where he was part of the team building the Pickering, Bruce and Darlington nuclear power stations. He enjoyed playing golf and being part of the Church Choir in Parksville. At his request, there will be no formal memorial service In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Salvation Army.
