Alexander James McDowall

Born February 12, 1931- Died May 18,2015

Alex passed away peacefully in his sleep, at Dufferin Place in Nanaimo after being ill for several months.

Alex is also survived by his grandchildren, Challayne (Rob), Braden, Trevor, Samantha, Chris (Stephane); great-grandchildren Tia,Clayton, Quinn and Liam as well as many nieces and nephews.

Alex was a mill worker for over 40 years in South Vancouver before retiring in the 1980’s. Alex and Marg lived a short while in South Vancouver before moving to Nanoose Bay, on Vancouver Island in 1990.

Alex and Marg enjoyed a quiet, peaceful retirement in Beachcomber for over 25 years. Alex enjoyed gardening as well as building and running his model trains. Alex loved his sports and could often be found watching and making a VCR recording of just about every major sporting event of the past 25 years! Alex was a big Vancouver Canucks and BC Lions fan and was always willing to share his opinion of what they needed to do to win! Both the Canucks and Lions will now have to figure it out for themselves!

Alex will be missed by his family, especially by his Grandchildren who have known “Grandpa Alex” their entire lives. Alex’s family is very grateful for the care and support Alex received from Marie King and the entire staff at Dufferin Place.

A Graveside service will be held at

Yates Cemetary in Parksville,

Friday June 26th at 1:30pm.
