Alexander John Windram

March 22, 2011

October 31, 1926 – March 22, 2011

It is not the first or last date that matters, but all the happy days in between.

It is with great sorrow we announce our loving husband, father, grandfather (Papa), great grandfather, brother, nephew and uncle passed away peacefully at the Nanaimo Regional Hospital Palliative Care unit at the age of 84. When Dad became ill, Mom lovingly looked after Dad at home knowing that he wouldn’t do well anywhere else and we thank her dearly. Dad is now at peace and we, as a family, find great comfort in the thought that he is now free to fly, fish, dance and sing. Alex loved his wife, Mary and the home he built with her on Columbia Beach. He loved listening, singing and dancing to music, fishing, boating, swimming, fixing things, lacrosse and hockey, travelling to Hawaii, Mom’s cooking and spending special time with his beloved family and friends.

He will be lovingly remembered by his best friend, the love of his life his wife of 62 years, Mary and their children; Linda (Larry), Judy (Rob), Jim (Julie), Wendy (Collin) and his grandchildren ; Tina (Brendan), Terri (Dave), Wade, Holli (Jay), Matthew (Deserae), Kara, Lauren (Oliver), Kevin and Eryn and his great- grandchildren; Georgia, Shelby, Kaitlyn, Livia and Ava. He will be missed by his sister Margaret, his great Aunt Elsie and his many friends.

“Dad you will always be dancing in our hearts, we will love you forever”

Special thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit. In honor of Alex’s memory donations can be made to either the Palliative Care Unit of the Nanaimo Regional Hospital or to the Child Development Foundation of British Columbia.
