Alice Gertrude Denslow

1924 -  2016

Alice grew up in Daylesford Saskatchewan with sisters June and Velma and brothers Bill and Ralph.

When she was thirteen the family moved to Rock City near Nanaimo where they ran a commercial dairy.

As a young woman she met her handsome soldier John Denslow at an army dance and they were married after the second world war.

John and Alice raised their family on a dairy farm in Nanoose, moving to Parksville in the early 1970’s.

Alice enjoyed the many friends she made over decades through participation in the Great Books Club and the Triple C speaking group, and by volunteer work with the SOS Thrift Shop, Community Policing Keeping in Touch program and her spiritual path Eckankar.

A favourite photo from the 1940’s shows Alice, arms linked with her sister June on one side and her future sister-in-law Dorothy on the other, striding down a Vancouver street.  Their faces reflect the joy of friendship and the optimism of youth.

Alice lived with humour, joy and a love for all life. Her greatest loves were her family and her friends.

She passed away peacefully August 28th

and was pre-deceased by her

husband and her siblings.

There will not be a service. Alice will be greatly missed by her children Beverly, Douglas and Dorothy.  We will hold her in our hearts always.
