Alick passed away at home in Coombs with his family at his side. He was predeceased by his parents Alick and Margaret (McCabe) Smith of Victoria and special in-laws Stan and Doris Smith of Deep Bay.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years Sharon, daughters Cheryll and Karen, grandsons Alex, Taylor and Brandon, favourite granddaughter Chelsea (Josh), great-grandsons Travis and Connor, his brother Jack (Joan) Smith and sister Darlene Jury.
Dad apprenticed as a mechanic and worked his way to be a machine operator in Victoria. In 1978 mom and dad purchased an excavator, started their own business and followed the work to Coombs where they built their home. There are many happy memories of building, renovations, landscaping, camping, fishing and spending time with friends and family.
We will miss his sense of humour and "great wisdom". He was always there for us when we needed him.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Hunter, the home care nurses, Dr. Morris and his nurses Linda and Michaela.
There will be no service by request. The family will gather for a private remembrance and celebration of his life in the near future.
