VALENTE, Andrew Carter
May 30, 1924 – May 20, 2006
Andy was born in Vancouver, where he lived the majority of his life. He passed away after a brief illness, at UBC hospital on Saturday, May 20th.
He was a fabricator for Dominion Bridge for over 30 years, until Dominion Bridge went out of business. After leaving Dominion Bridge, Andy turned to commercial fishing. He fished Georgia Straight, out of False Creek, French Creek, and Lasqueti on his troller, CAROL-LYN. He especially liked the camaraderie of his fellow fishermen and dock visitors.
Andy was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and the odd prospecting trip.
His parents, Peter and Eva Valente, and his sister, Carmel Steeves, predeceased him. He leaves behind to celebrate his life, sister, Lucile Johnson, Parksville; nieces, Janice Hagedorn, Patricia Palmer, Linda Thomas, Susan Gerrand; nephews, Timber and Sailor Johnson; also great nieces and great nephews, who shall miss him enormously.
