Anita Lorraine Stremel

May 4, 2021

November 14, 1934 - May 4, 2021
With a song in our heavy hearts (and shoes off at the door!) we announce the May 4, 2021 passing of Anita Lorraine Stremel (Rembold) born in the West End of Vancouver, 14 Nov 1934.
Predeceased by her father Frank, mother Anne (Schneider), brothers Frankie, Max, Charlie, and sister Annie.
Anita is lovingly remembered by her husband of 67 years, Raymond, sons Steven, Wayne (Lorraine), grandchildren Emilee, Samantha (Brad), Luke, and Bobbi, sister Patricia (Chuck), sister-in-laws Katie and Helen, bro-in-law Harvey, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Anita was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend; and many a delicious meal was enjoyed at the table with Anita at the helm. When she wasn't managing her domestic world with grace, elegance, and command, she was continuously advancing her career.
Anita rose up through the ranks at Eatons, Royal Trust, and eventually to Royal Lepage, earning her license - before retiring on Cortes Island and then Qualicum Beach; where she continually made new friends while nurturing friends from their former community in N. Vancouver (1953 - 1987).
Many thanks to staff at The Gardens at Qualicm Beach, community support from VIHA, VIP, Dr. Bigelow (Char, Ingrid), Dr. Martens (Sue), and special thanks to Joan Doucet and John Mills.
Anita irrepressibly defied the laws of medicine - and resolutely fought her terminal metastasized bone cancer diagnosis with courage, dignity, and selflessness - placing her loved one's well being ahead of herself. Anita's 86+ years were filled with love, laughter, travels, and friendships which will endure in hearts and minds eternally.
A private ceremony celebrating the life of a phenomenal woman will be held at a later date. Donations in memory or Anita can be made to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital Foundation or JoeAnna's House, Kelowna.
